The Dallas Cowboys will win the NFC East
By Vincent DiGeronimo
After a tough loss at Tampa Bay, a last-second win against the Chargers, and a solid beating against the Eagles, one thing has become very clear. Barring any injuries, the Cowboys will win the NFC East. This is because of several reasons.
First, and perhaps foremost, process of elimination. If you look at the other teams in the division, the Giants are just all over the place and the Football Team seems as if their quarterback struggles are so immense that they are putting too much pressure on their defense, therefore setting them back too far. This leaves two teams remaining- the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles.
If you look at Monday’s game, there are several things that stood out to me. First, the Cowboys could still potentially run the ball. There were questions surrounding Tony Pollard and Ezekiel Elliott, but even just a simple look at the stats show that they are able to get touches to their running backs, and, for this game specifically, that still will generate touchdowns.
Also, Dak Prescott was another big issue. Coming off of a significant injury, nobody knew whether he was going to be able to perform at the level that he was at prior to the injury. However, especially in the first game, Dak Prescott showed that he would be able to throw the ball for a tremendous amount of completions and yardage.
My biggest concern still lies within the defense. While they have been able to get takeaways, the most uncertainty will remain there and they will need to get several takeaways a game to succeed. I think generating the amount of takeaways per game that the Cowboys will need is hard to achieve, which means that their defense will struggle. Even though that is their biggest concern, I still believe they will do good and win the division.
